Welcome to Greenway Baptist Church!

Greenway Baptist Church is an intergenerational, growing fellowship of people committed to glorifying our Lord Jesus through worship, fellowship, and serving our church and community! We are affiliated with the Three Forks Baptist Association and belong to the Southern Baptist Convention.

Beginning as a mission of First Baptist of Boone in the summer of 1951, a small handful of committed Christ followers began meeting in an unused service station on Old Blowing Rock Road. Sunday school classes were held in the service station, under trees, and in cars. In 1958, this group known as “Boone Baptist Mission” was officially constituted as Greenway Baptist Church, starting with 98 charter members.

Today, Greenway is made up of Christ followers from many walks of life. Our desire is to truly be a local gospel outpost here in our community, shining the light of Christ to all we meet. We have a weekly Food Pantry ministry that seeks to meet the needs of those in our community, as well as children’s and youth programs that provide fun, safe, Christ-centered activities for young people. From charter members to new families looking for a place to call home, Greenway Baptist is ready to welcome you into our fellowship as we seek to follow Jesus together.

Our Mission

Many today want to reshape the Church’s mission, but a biblical church’s PURPOSE remains the same as in the New Testament. Jesus gave His first followers clear instructions in Matthew 28:16-20—what we now call, “The Great Commission.”

At its heart, Jesus’ commission is about making DISCIPLES —students who learn and then teach others—not just adding members, but multiplying believers who share the gospel and grow in faith. This mission powered the early church in Acts, as they lived out the gospel everywhere.

Our Vision

We believe each local church is unique, shaped by its people’s gifts and experiences, so its vision should reflect that identity. Our vision is to be a welcoming place where families, students, seniors, newcomers, and everyone in between can hear the gospel, grow in Jesus, and go share His message wherever God leads. To support this VISION, we’ve created a simple discipleship PATHWAY to guide our journey of faith and gospel-sharing together.
